Accelerated Reader Information
To help students identify books tailored to their levels easily, the books in the school libraries have been color coded with tape on the spine. There is a sticker inside each book with the Readability Level and Accelerated Reader point value stated. Many stickers also include the book's Interest Level.
Interest Level Guide
There are designated interest levels for books. For instance, a book written at a fifth grade Readability Level could have either a Lower, Middle, Middle+, or Upper Grade Interest Level, depending on the content. Middle+ and Upper Grade Level books will contain more complex, mature themes. Check the AR Book finder or the sticker inside the front cover of library books to see that your reader has chosen a book at an appropriate Interest Level for his or her age.
